Hong Kong-listed Century Entertainment International Holdings has resumed VIP gaming operations in Cambodia’s Dara Sakor, four years after closing its operations in Sihanoukville due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
On October 1, 2024, the firm formally began operations at its new location, one day after a Special General Meeting approved the endeavor. The casino currently has seven VIP gaming tables in operation as part of a three-year arrangement with LongBay Entertainment, the property owner.
As part of the agreement, Century Entertainment pays LongBay Entertainment a monthly fee of $35,000, which grants it complete entitlement to table winnings. The corporation also bears full responsibility for house losses and related staff expenditures.

In a statement accompanying its financial results for the six months ended September 30, 2024, the firm expressed confidence in the future of its VIP gaming operations. “The group anticipates that the VIP rooms operation will stabilize in the upcoming months and will be able to contribute significantly to the group’s overall performance in 2025,” according to the business.
The opening comes at a critical time for Century Entertainment, which has faced concerns about its financial health. With no income reported during the six-month reporting period and a loss of HK$11.4 million ($1.47 million), the company’s liabilities totaled HK$91.2 million ($11.7 million).
Despite these issues, financial backing from Chairman and CEO Ng Man Sun, who has deferred loan repayment, has given the company much-needed breathing room.
“The casino is strategically located in Dara Sakor, a rapidly growing district in Cambodia and a key tourism hub in Southeast Asia,” according to the corporation.
It cited the region’s growth, including a new airport approaching completion and recreational facilities like a golf course and a shopping center, as significant reasons expected to promote tourist traffic and gaming operations.
The Dara Sakor casino covers 10,500 square meters and features 40 mass gaming tables, 55 VIP tables, 80 slot machines, and a variety of services such as a Chinese cuisine, spa, and nightclub.
Century Entertainment’s return to gaming operations comes after years of delays. The company was once based in Sihanoukville but halted operations in 2020, claiming the epidemic and Ng’s choice to transfer to Dara Sakor for better terms. A five-year contract signed in February 2023 was further postponed, but the newest launch demonstrates the company’s determination to capitalise on the region’s expanding popularity.
