The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has issued new measures to combat unlawful betting marketing in professional football.
According to the TFF, clubs who violate the new regulations will face penalties and, in the case of repeated breaches, points will be deducted.
According to the amended standards, any team in the Turkish Super League that participates in unlawful betting promotions will face a tiered punishment system.
The first infringement will result in a punishment of 2 million Turkish Liras (about $58,000), the second crime will entail a fine of 5 million liras, and the third violation would result in a fine of 10 million liras. For repeated violations, teams will face a punishment of 10 million liras and a three-point reduction from their league standings.

“It is prohibited to promote or market betting businesses that are not regulated by the appropriate authorities. The TFF clarified that this includes any media, billboards, and other equipment used within the stadium.
The TFF highlighted that the prohibition also applies to companies linked with illicit betting organisations, such as those participating in marketing and advertising activities that appear to support illegal betting.
The illegal betting business is massive on a worldwide scale, estimated by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to be worth $1.8 trillion. According to the Financial Crimes Investigation Board, the sector is expected to generate more than 100 billion liras in Turkey alone.
