The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor), the country’s gaming regulator, issued a warning on Monday about a fraudulent website with the word ‘Pagcor’ in the title and elements such as logos that appear to be genuine, but which asks people to link to it in order to apply for gaming licenses and accreditation.
The bogus site, which included a spelling error in the phrase “accreditation,” remained live as of Monday afternoon.
The bogus website, with the domain name “www.pagcorphilippines.com”, was launched on Saturday (February 22), according to Pagcor’s Monday statement, citing its chairman and CEO, Alejandro Tengco.
“We urge the public not to download anything or transact through the said fake website that uses the domain name www.pagcorphilippines.com because it is definitely not from Pagcor and all its contents are spurious,” said Mr Tengco in prepared remarks, which were included in the Monday statement.

The statement said that Pagcor’s official domain is www.pagcor.ph
The update also quoted the Pagcor chairman as saying, “We have reported this incident to the Department of Information and Communications Technology.” We are also seeking to identify the perpetrators of this fraud, and we will prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.”
According to Pagcor’s Monday statement, the bogus website presented ‘accreditation paperwork’ with a forged signature pretending to be Mr Tengco’s.
