The Oyo has finally stopped some people’s tactic, which involves parking in its free garage and then across Tropicana Boulevard to gambling at the MGM Grand.

Oyo currently charges $13 for up to three hours using a parking app. Following that, each 24-hour period costs $18. Without service costs, a tourist would spend $126 in seven days.

However, according to Vital Vegas, the Oyo will continue to validate parking at its players club desk for the time being.

Just the most recent free-parking domino to fall is the Oyo, which is situated a quarter mile east of the Strip. The benefit, which was once granted to visitors to Las Vegas, is rapidly becoming just another holdover from the city’s past.

Parking is still free for visitors to the Las Vegas Strip at the Sahara, Treasure Island, Circus Circus, and Casino Royale. There is no restriction for hotel guests, however visitors can park for free at the Wynn for up to three hours.

The Fashion Show Mall typically offers free parking as well. But be prepared to spend a fortune here for big events. (This weekend’s F1 Grand Prix costs between $50 and $80 per place in the indoor mall.)

For the first three hours and only if they have a valid Nevada driver’s license, residents may still park for free at the majority of Strip establishments. As a benefit of their loyalty programs, some hotels also provide it, but only when you “earn” your way up to a particular status level.

Fee for all people that park there

From the Strip’s inception until 2016, unrestricted, free parking was a mainstay. MGM, the operator of the Bellagio, Aria, Cosmopolitan, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Park MGM, New York-New York, Luxor, and Excalibur, was the first casino to charge for the long-standing Strip custom in that year.

Beginning in 2021, Caesars Palace, The Cromwell, Harrah’s, Horseshoe, Paris, Flamingo, Planet Hollywood, and Linq will charge parking for all visitors, following MGM’s example.

It’s hard to hold resorts like Oyo that are close to an MGM or Caesars site responsible for removing their free parking. Their primary goal is to prevent visitors from nearby houses from occupying their empty lands.

Just as you may tell your grandkids about drinking at the casinos for free and having your hotel free because you spent $100, you can also tell them that you once parked for free at every casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
