While the jackpot continues to rise, two lucky players, one in Washington and one in Virginia, won million-dollar rewards in the game’s most recent draw.
Mega Millions most recent drawing last week offered a jackpot of more than $230 million. To be more specific, the prize was expected to be $233 million, with a cash option worth $108.8 million.
While many lottery players across the country tried their luck, no one was able to match all of the winning numbers in the most recent draw and win the jackpot sum. Nonetheless, a couple of players won millions of dollars by matching five winning numbers.
Two players missed the grand prize by a single number
The winning numbers for Friday’s Mega Millions drawing were 8, 20, 48, 58, and 60, with the critical gold Mega Ball number 7 drawn. On Friday, the Megaplier was 3x, allowing lottery players who did not win the jackpot to increase their award if they paid an additional fee for the function.
The jackpot survived, but two extremely fortunate players won life-changing tier-two prizes. That’s the case for a Virginia and a Washington player. Each of the fortunate winners matched five winning numbers, missing just the gold Mega Ball number.

On the good side, the Washington player won $1 million by matching all of the winning white balls drawn on Friday. Unlike the Washington ticket holder, the Virginia player paid an additional fee for the Mega Millions Megaplier option.
As a result, they received a $3 million prize rather than the usual $1 million for matching five winning numbers.
On Friday, more than a dozen gamers won tier-three prizes by matching four white balls and the gold Mega Ball. A total of five lucky winners saw their usual $10,000 reward tripled to $30,000 each, while the remaining players received the standard $10,000 prize.
The jackpot hits $256 million for the next drawing
The chances of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are always the same, regardless of how many players buy tickets. The chances of winning the highest reward are 1 in 302.5 million, while the odds of winning any prize in the popular lottery game are 1 in 24.
Following the last drawing, the prize has climbed to a staggering $256 million. The Mega Millions jackpot, like most top prizes, includes a cash option in the form of a one-time lump sum payment of $119.5 million.
The popular lottery game’s next drawing is slated for Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 11 p.m. ET. Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. ET.
