The casino venture’s founding partners purchased a 13-acre former industrial site across from the Hard Rock Bristol casino for $7 million. On September 6th, Exit 1 Development, with a Roanoke address, purchased the property at the corner of Catherine Street and Gate City Highway from Nulife Glass VA Realty.

Cardinal News got the deed, which said that the property was appraised at $1.52 million. The land is now utilized for employee parking but could be expanded in the future.

According to the report, Andy Poarch, a casino spokesperson, stated that the site was purchased by the casino project’s partners, United Company and Par Ventures.

“It is now in use for team member parking and is also available for general parking needs”. “The purpose of the purchase is to be prepared in advance to meet future growth demands as they arise,” Poarch stated.

The site, which has been unoccupied for years, was previously home to Nulife, a British recycling company that planned to invest $7 million and create 46 jobs but was unable to obtain the necessary state environmental licenses. Crowley Dairy had already occupied the property before Nulife.

In an interview on November 1, about two weeks before the permanent casino’s inauguration, Allie Evangelista, President of the Hard Rock Bristol Hotel and Casino, stated that having enough parking was a worry, as it is with other casinos, and officials were exploring their alternatives.

The temporary casino opened in July 2022, employing approximately 600 people. This figure has more than risen in recent months, to roughly 1,400 required for the permanent casino, hotel, restaurants, and entertainment complex.

The entire Hard Rock Bristol celebrated its grand opening on November 14th, some six years after its initial announcement. A week later, a ‘Team Member Parking’ sign with the Hard Rock emblem was erected on the chain link fence that surrounds the site, which is small in the front but extends several blocks until it joins a residential neighborhood.
