The Macau government received just under MOP6.65 billion (US$829.3 million) in fiscal revenue from gaming taxes in October, according to data provided on Friday by the city’s Financial Services Bureau.
The latest monthly result brought the gaming tax total for the first ten months of 2024 to slightly over MOP73.04 billion.
According to the latest figures, casino taxes accounted for 82.1 percent of the Macau government’s total current revenue of MOP88.99 billion in the first ten months of 2024.

According to the government’s 2024 budget plan, gaming taxes are expected to generate roughly MOP83.61 billion. Macau gaming taxes, the take for the first ten months of current year is 87.4 percent of that total.
By September 30, this year, Macau had surpassed the MOP65.26 billion in gaming taxes collected in the full year 2023.
Under Macau’s 10-year gaming concession system, which went into force on January 1 of last year, the effective tax on casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) is 40%.
For a variety of reasons, the tax-take figures in a given calendar period are not directly comparable to the city’s casino GGR in that time frame. They include the fact that there is generally a delay between the time GGR is recorded in Macau casino operations and the time the Macau government registers tax as paid on such play.
According to the local government’s budget projection for fiscal year 2025, Macau’s casino GGR in 2025 is expected to be MOP240 billion. According to the budget for next year, the Macau government expects to collect MOP84.0 billion in gaming taxes from the city’s six casino concessionaires. That is computed solely on the basis of the so-called “special gaming tax,” which stands at 35% of GGR for the current 10-year gaming concessions, which began on January 1, 2023.
