Lotto Texas- “We are trying to create a more convenient way for customers inside the state of Texas to play the game,” authorities disclosed.
The recent Lotto Texas jackpot victory prompted concerns about the authenticity of lottery courier services, although officials denied that they are doing anything wrong.
Courier services are being criticized over their legitimacy
To provide some context, Lotto Texas recently saw someone win $83.5 million, with the winning ticket sold at the Winners Corner TX LLC store on Rockwood Lane. This is Lotto Texas’ fifth-largest jackpot ever, and the winner wishes to stay unknown.
However, many state citizens are wondering whether the ticket was legitimate because it was acquired through a lottery courier service.
In 2023, a suspected European lottery syndicate won a $95 million prize by purchasing 25.8 million tickets, causing trust in courier services to erode.
This was enough to cover all possible winning combinations, essentially ensuring a win.
Dawn Nettles, the founder of LottoReport.com, a lottery monitoring website, filed a widely publicized class-action complaint last week.
Nettles accused former Texas Lottery CEO Gary Grief of “fraudulently” laying the groundwork for a “criminal conspiracy” that allowed the European syndicate to manipulate the system, primarily by encouraging the development of lottery courier services in Texas.

It should be highlighted that the most recent winning ticket was acquired through a lottery courier, Jackpocket.com, which DraftKings controls.
These businesses allow Texans to select their numbers and buy tickets using an app. The courier then completes the order by purchasing tickets from a licensed physical lottery store. Afterward, the courier scans the tickets and returns them to the consumer.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick also questioned the authenticity of courier firms and the legality of their operations. Opponents of courier services have been attempting to ban them for some time, but the most recent proposal failed in the House. However, Patrick confirmed that a similar bill will be introduced again this year.
DraftKings Deny Ruined Legitimacy Claims
According to Peter Sullivan, Senior Vice President of Lottery at DraftKings, there is a misunderstanding that Jackpocket (one of these couriers) is purchasing all of these tickets in an attempt to win.
He said that they are purchased on behalf of clients who have been age and location checked and are playing the games on an individual basis. It should be emphasized that DraftKings owns Jackpocket after purchasing the service for $750 million last year, thus the courier’s defense is also consistent with the company’s business objectives.
We are attempting to offer a more convenient way for clients in Texas to play the game they already know and love in a secure and mobile-based environment.
Peter Sullivan, Senior Vice President of Lottery at DraftKings.
According to Sullivan, the couriers are not engaging in any unlawful activity and are merely trying to make it easier for Texas clients to play the game.
He stated that once the order is received, the corporation proceeds to a licensed store to purchase a paper ticket. The ticket is then scanned by Jackpocket and returned to the consumer.
