One lucky player in Colorado earned a tremendous windfall with state-wide consequences, as the individual secured the greatest seven-figure win from a casino in the Centennial State’s history.
Wholesome stories about jackpot winners excite and inspire others to try their luck, whether it’s the heartwarming story of a couple who won $7 million and vowed to use it to raise their family and better educate themselves, or the jackpot winner in California who is attempting to obtain the other half of a $400 million prize after it was not claimed by the identical winner ticket.
The largest casino jackpot win in Monarch Casino’s history
However, there is also the account of a Colorado gambler who won $1,085,435.89 in a Centennial State casino while playing the Dragon Link slot machine. The lucky soul was visiting the Monarch Casino Resort Spa in Black Hawk when he won a large sum of money on a $50 stake, according to a press statement from the casino.
The progressive jackpot was already at record highs when the anonymous gambler won and made headlines. The player won on January 23, a bit sooner than the property announced the triumph.

This is the first time someone has won such a large jackpot, according to the casino’s official announcement, and it is the greatest victory in the property’s 12-year history. Monarch Casino Resort Spa’s director of marketing, Erica Ferris, commented on the recent feat, saying “Jackpots like these are extremely rare, and to see one happen, our gaming floor was quite the spectacle.”
Beating the Record will now prove to be a mean feat
Winning a $1-million jackpot may seem like a common occurrence in places like Las Vegas, but Colorado hasn’t had a million-dollar progressive jackpot winner in almost a decade, making this a unique occasion.
In 2013, the Monarch Casino Resort Spa in Blackhawk changed its name to Riviera Black Hawk Casino. The previous record was set by Rebecca, a Colorado Springs resident who won $805,329 at Wild Casino in 2017.
Given Colorado’s history with jackpots, large prizes of approximately $500,000 have been won on a regular basis. In 2021, Megan earned $568,319 at Wildwood Casino.
In 2017, the casino had its third big winner, Todd, who earned $501,591. Monarch Casino Resort Spa is currently the trendiest new location in town, and it will likely keep the jackpot record for another 10 years!
