BetMGM Poker has become the third US operator to provide multi-state online poker. The corporation combined its player pools in Michigan and New Jersey.
Both jurisdictions are members of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA), which enables online poker networks to share liquidity and players across participating markets. The two-state network went live Wednesday afternoon, following morning maintenance.
Michigan is the newest operating online poker market, having passed legislation in 2020 and launching in early 2021. This came more than seven years after New Jersey’s online poker launched in November 2013.
New Jersey joined MSIGA in 2017, two years after Nevada and Delaware signed the agreement. Michigan joined in 2022, which is a relatively short interval compared to the states that came before it.
Michigan’s entry has accelerated interstate online poker, which had previously been slow to develop.

PokerStars Michigan’s first multi-state partnership began on January 1, 2023, when it merged its New Jersey and Michigan markets. In May 2024, WSOP Michigan joined forces with New Jersey and Nevada in a three-state deal, with BetMGM being the state’s third significant operator to do so.
BetMGM Poker will expand the player pool for New Jersey and Michigan online poker gamers. Naturally, this will result in greater tournament prize pools for both states. It will also increase competition for the two remaining multi-state locations in the two marketplaces.
