Given China’s increasingly strict gambling laws, the decision to leave the country makes logical.

As China continues to move toward regulated markets, gambling behemoth bet365 is reportedly thinking about leaving the country. The business, which was once a dominant force in the gray market, is now concentrating more on its activities in established and developing regulated nations.

Beginning on March 27, Bet365 will no longer accept bets in China

In a post on X, gaming news site EGR, which first reported on the situation, stated that bet365 has formally announced its plans to leave China. According to reports, the business announced that as of March 27, it will no longer accept wagers from clients in China.

The business informed customers that they would have plenty of time to withdraw their money because they would still be able to access their accounts until April 30. Players should get in touch with the business to set up a withdrawal if they miss this deadline.

According to reports, Bet365 Help called its intention to leave China a “business decision.” The decision would, in any event, be consistent with its current policy and gradual withdrawal from gray markets.

The Exit Complies with Bet365’s General Plan

A representative for bet365 offered some clarification on the issue, stressing that the business is continuously analyzing and evaluating the markets it serves. According to the representative, China is no longer a sustainable region.

By pooling its resources, the group has made the decision to concentrate on expanding its market share in areas that provide steady, long-term income in order to better match its emphasis with its key strengths in its core markets.

The Exit Is Reasonable

Given China’s increasingly strict gambling laws, the decision to leave the country makes logical. Despite the country’s broad ban on gambling, certain offshore operators have managed to capitalize on the need for gaming amusement.

Experts from the international strategic consultancy firm Regulus Partners referred to China as bet365’s final dark grey market, according to NEXT.io. Since leaving the nation, more than 90% of the company’s operations are now concentrated on areas with local regulations.

Analysts at Regulus Partners also noted that bet365’s performance in China has been deteriorating as a result of the nation’s anti-gambling campaign.

A combination of a deliberate declining operational focus on China, increasingly effective state disruption, and growth elsewhere puts the geography materially below 5% of current group revenue according to our analysis.Regulus Partners statement

Additionally, regulators in established markets, who have been scrutinizing operators with grey area activity, would see bet365 more favorably if it concentrated on legitimate markets.

Bet365 will look into new markets in the US

Meanwhile, bet365 just said that it would be entering Illinois and Tennessee, its 12th and 13th US states, respectively.

According to Bet365, it will operate independently in Tennessee. Conversely, the business will function in Illinois under a contract with Walker’s Bluff Casino Resort.
