Despite a 2.6% gain in revenue in January, Atlantic City casinos lost ground to internet casinos, slipping behind for the second time in a month.
According to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, Atlantic City casinos earned $210.1 million in January revenue, with Borgata leading the way with $60.4 million, followed by Hard Rock with $38 million and Ocean with $35.2 million.
In January, total gaming revenues in Atlantic City surpassed $559 million, a 28 percent increase
James Plousis, Chair of the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, stated that January 2025 was “the second-best January result in 13 years.”
Slots generated $145.4 million, up 2%, while traditional table gaming climbed by 4% to $64.6 million. Online gambling, however, climbed by 24% to $2.38 billion.

Jane Bokunewicz of the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality, and Tourism (LIGHT) at Stockton University School of Business stated that “bricks-and-mortar gaming is not being left behind by internet gaming.”
While internet gaming once again eclipsed brick-and-mortar in overall gaming income, brick-and-mortar had a year-over-year increase in January. This is a promising indicator for the next year.”
