The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has recommended that Australian internet service providers (ISPs) remove two additional offshore gambling websites after investigations revealed that the business was operating in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

Lucky Block and Rooli to be blocked in Australia

Lucky Block and Rooli are among the most recent casinos identified by the ACMA. The authority emphasizes that website blocking is one among several enforcement methods available to safeguard Australians from illicit online gaming.

ACMA issued its first banning request in November 2019, and there are already 1059 unlawful and associated websites blacklisted. Over 220 illicit providers have also exited the Australian market after the ACMA implemented new illegal offshore gaming regulations in 2017.

ACMA reminds customers that even if a service appears to be legitimate, it is unlikely to offer crucial client safeguards. The ACMA registry allows users to determine if a betting service is registered to operate in Australia.

Since its inception in August 2023, the ACMA has reported that over 28,000 Australians have registered to self-exclude from all legal online and phone gambling services via BetStop, the National Self-Exclusion Register.

The initiative’s goal is to assist people control their gambling habits and reduce the negative consequences.

The BetStop registration provides a variety of self-exclusion options, allowing users to opt out of gambling services for as short as three months or as long as their lives.

According to the ACMA, almost half of those who registered were 30 or younger, with approximately 80% being under the age of 40. Furthermore, almost 40% of registrants choose to self-exclude permanently, demonstrating a significant commitment to long-term improvement.
