According to a survey commissioned by the Responsible Gambling Council (RGC), 63% of Ontarians want to watch Super Bowl LIX, with 48% planning to wager on the game.
Some 50% will wager online using a sportsbook website, and 30% with relatives and friends.
Between November 22 and December 6, 2024, an online poll was conducted with 1,147 adult Ontario citizens. It discovered that 27% of respondents will purchase sports-themed lottery tickets, while 20% will wager in a pool.
More than half of those betting (55%) stated they would bet CA$100 or less, 19% between CA$101 and $500, and 8% more than CA$500.
Half of those who will bet on the Super Bowl indicated their major reason is to earn money (48%), followed by increasing the excitement of the event (47%).

Approximately one-fifth of bettors do so because they believe they are informed about the teams and players (22%), are confident in their chances of winning (20%), or have a favorite club or player competing (18%).
Sarah McCarthy, CEO of the Responsible Gambling Council, stated, “Gambling is random, but your plan should not be. Perceived knowledge of the game, compelling advertising, and substance abuse can all impact our gambling habits.
A wise strategy includes being aware of the illusion of control and noting that even with sports knowledge, understanding the game, players, or data will not increase your chances of correctly forecasting a random event.”
RGC offers recommendations for safer sports betting, such as setting limits, never chasing losses, and viewing sports betting as enjoyment.
